Kuwait is set to establish a dedicated, high-standard training facility for its national football teams, State Minister for Youth and Sports Affairs Dr. Tariq Al-Jalahma announced on September 9. The project aims to offer enhanced privacy during training sessions and will feature medical facilities, a gym, and other amenities designed to support the teams' preparation.

The announcement came as Kuwait’s national squad conducted a training session ahead of their departure to Doha, where they will attend a camp in preparation for the 27th Gulf Cup, scheduled to take place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, from September 23 to October 6.

Dr. Al-Jalahma emphasized the government’s commitment to providing optimal conditions for players, coaches, and administrative staff, with the goal of reflecting Kuwait’s longstanding football heritage in their Gulf Cup performances.

Team delegation chief Ayman Al-Husseini highlighted the decision to begin preparations early to maximize training time. He noted that coach Hélio Sousa preferred to commence national team training following the third round of the local league, given that many players had already undergone overseas club camps.

The squad is scheduled to play a friendly match against the Qatari club Lusail next week. However, players from Kuwait Club will remain with their team to fulfill AFC Champions League 2 commitments before joining the national team in Jeddah.

Players expressed a strong sense of pride and determination ahead of the tournament. Midfielder Abdullah Al-Awadhi described representing Kuwait in the Gulf Cup as an honor and pledged to perform at his best alongside teammates. Defender Eid Al-Rashidi voiced high ambitions for the team and underscored the importance of making the most of the Doha camp to reach peak form. He also praised the passion of Kuwait’s supporters, expressing confidence in their support throughout the competition.

Striker Shabib Al-Khaldi characterized the Gulf Cup as a unique event that fosters a special sporting atmosphere by bringing together Gulf nations.

The Kuwaiti team, coached by Portuguese manager Hélio Sousa, began its Doha training sessions on September 8. In addition to the players and coaching staff, Kuwaiti referees will also be represented at the tournament. The Arab Gulf Cup Football Federation has appointed four Kuwaiti officials to serve: Abdullah Jamali as referee, Saud Al-Shammali and Ali Jarragh as assistant referees, and Abdullah Arab as assistant VAR referee.
