Kuwait has successfully raised $3.25 billion through an international bond sale conducted on October 19, the country’s finance ministry announced Tuesday. The issuance, divided into two tranches, attracted robust demand from global investors amid positive sentiment toward Kuwait’s economic outlook.
The offering included $2.25 billion in three-year bonds and $1 billion in 10-year bonds. The three-year bonds were priced at a spread of 75 basis points above comparable US Treasury yields, while the 10-year bonds carried a spread of 105 basis points. The pricing reflects investor appetite for Kuwaiti debt, supported by the country's credit profile and economic fundamentals.
Finance Minister Yaqoub Al-Refai highlighted that the strong investor interest underscored confidence in Kuwait’s financial stability and growth prospects. The total order book reached approximately $9.1 billion, nearly 2.8 times the size of the issuance, allowing Kuwait to secure favourable funding terms in the international debt markets.
The proceeds from the bond issuance are intended to support Kuwait’s fiscal and development plans as the country manages its economic strategy amid changing global financial conditions. This marks a significant milestone in Kuwait’s efforts to maintain liquidity and enhance its funding sources beyond traditional revenue streams.
