Kuwait highlighted its evolving philanthropic model at the 2026 Brazil-Arab States Economic Forum held in São Paulo, Brazil, underscoring the country’s longstanding commitment to charitable and humanitarian work. The forum brought together Arab and Brazilian institutions and key figures to promote economic cooperation and exchange expertise in social responsibility and sustainable development.
Representing Kuwait at the event was Hamad Zaid Saud Al-Bsais, United Nations Ambassador for Community Partnership and Founder and Chairman of the Al-Awazem Charitable Foundation. Al-Bsais participated as part of the delegation from the Regional Network for Social Responsibility, which seeks to facilitate knowledge sharing and collaboration in the fields of social responsibility and sustainability across the Arab region and beyond.
During the forum, Al-Bsais presented several publications from Al-Awazem Charitable Foundation to officials of the Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce. These included “The Idea and Foundation,” detailing the establishment of the foundation, and the “Sustainability and Philanthropic Impact Report 2025,” which reviews the foundation’s programs and assesses its impact over the previous year. “The Idea and Foundation” was handed to William Adib Deeb Jr., President of the Chamber and forum organizer, while the impact report was delivered to Mohammad Arra Murad, the Chamber’s Secretary General and Vice President for International Relations, in the presence of Dr. Hamed Al-Balushi, Ambassador of the Regional Network for Social Responsibility from Oman.
Al-Bsais emphasized the importance of documenting and sharing Kuwait’s philanthropic experience internationally, describing it as part of the country’s humanitarian legacy. He noted that Kuwait’s charitable work has evolved from traditional individual giving to institutionalized models characterized by governance, planning, transparency, and impact measurement. The foundation’s publications are reflections of this progression, capturing the journey toward sustainable and professionally managed charitable initiatives.
The Kuwaiti delegation’s participation also aimed to showcase the broader Arab experience in social responsibility and the development of institutional frameworks for charitable work. It highlighted how Kuwait’s civil society and charitable organizations contribute national expertise and uphold a culture of giving that is integral to Kuwaiti society.
