Kuwait is intensifying efforts to bridge the gap between education and the labor market through enhanced cooperation between the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training (PAAET) and the Public Authority of Manpower. Representatives from both bodies convened on Tuesday to discuss ways to better align academic and vocational training programs with the evolving needs of Kuwait’s workforce.
Dr. Hassan Al-Fajjam, Director General of PAAET, emphasized the authority’s commitment to fostering partnerships with governmental and private sector entities. He described collaboration with the Public Authority of Manpower as a fundamental component in refining educational curricula and training initiatives. Dr. Al-Fajjam highlighted the importance of continuously updating these programs to meet the requirements of national development plans and to improve employment opportunities, especially for Kuwaiti youth entering the job market.
Rabab Al-Osaimi, Director General of the Public Authority of Manpower, underscored the critical role of coordination with education and training institutions to boost workforce efficiency. She stressed the need to create an accurate and comprehensive labor market database to guide policy and market regulation. According to Al-Osaimi, such data-driven approaches would help direct national talent into key sectors, particularly the private sector, thereby supporting broader economic diversification goals.
Discussions also addressed expanding cooperation in areas such as workforce testing and skills verification. The participants explored developing mechanisms to synchronize education and training outputs with labor market demand by sharing data on anticipated job trends. This exchange aims to enhance the relevance and responsiveness of academic programs to the dynamic labor landscape.
Another key focus was increasing practical training opportunities within private sector firms for students enrolled in applied education programs. Providing hands-on experience prior to graduation is intended to better prepare students for workforce integration and to raise their employability.
In addition, the meeting highlighted the importance of reinforcing partnerships with private companies to deliver advanced training programs that reflect current professional standards. These initiatives support Kuwait’s broader vision for human capital development and economic progress by equipping the national workforce with skills aligned to market needs.
