Kuwait and Thailand are set to deepen their bilateral relations through a new strategic partnership, building on more than six decades of diplomatic ties marked by mutual respect and cooperation. Ambassador of Thailand to Kuwait, Songchai Chaipatiyut, outlined the evolving relationship in comments made on August 5 in Kuwait City, emphasizing a shift beyond traditional trade towards broader collaboration in various sectors.

The ambassador highlighted that the partnership aims to encompass food security, investment, healthcare, education, and tourism, aligning with the goals of Kuwait Vision 2035. This move reflects both countries’ ambitions to enhance cooperation in areas critical to sustainable development and economic diversification.

In terms of trade, the volume of exchange between Kuwait and Thailand reached approximately $947 million in 2025. Additionally, Thailand welcomed around 87,000 visitors from Kuwait in the previous year, underscoring growing people-to-people connections. Ambassador Chaipatiyut also noted ongoing initiatives to expand bilateral cooperation by increasing direct flight connections and encouraging more joint investments.

The ambassador described this period as an opportune moment for Kuwait and Thailand to further their partnership, which not only benefits their respective populations but also holds potential contributions to global progress. He pointed to the milestones achieved over the 63-year relationship, including significant advancements in diplomatic engagement at the highest levels.

Ambassador Chaipatiyut underscored the close ties between the two countries' leadership and the strong bonds shared between their peoples as a foundation for this enhanced collaboration.
