Kuwait has launched a training program aimed at equipping 300 Kuwaiti youths with skills in three technical specialties to support the cooperative sector. The initiative, announced on October 31 by Dr. Amthal Al-Huwailah, Minister of Social Affairs and Family and Child Affairs, is being implemented in collaboration with the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training (PAAET).

Under the program, 100 students are enrolled in each of the three diploma courses: Smart Building Systems, Mechatronics, and Sustainability. The minister emphasized that the move is designed to address labor market needs and create new career opportunities for young Kuwaitis, particularly within cooperative societies and related technical fields.

Dr. Al-Huwailah described the initiative as part of the ministry’s broader strategy to reinforce the "Kuwaitization" policy, which focuses on increasing national workforce participation by aligning educational outcomes with market demands. She highlighted the importance of investing in Kuwaiti youth by providing them with the qualifications and competencies required by the labor market.

The partnership with PAAET plays a significant role in developing national skills and improving employment prospects for graduates. According to the minister, the program is also expected to enhance the efficiency of the cooperative sector and promote sustainable practices in its operations.

The training in Smart Building Systems aims to familiarize students with advanced technologies in construction and building management, while the Mechatronics diploma focuses on the integration of mechanical, electronic, and computer technologies. The Sustainability diploma covers environmental and resource management principles, reflecting growing global and local emphasis on sustainable development.

By targeting these emerging technical fields, the program seeks to prepare young Kuwaitis for evolving market trends and to foster innovation within the cooperative sector. The ministry plans to continue its collaboration with PAAET to further expand skill development initiatives that support Kuwait’s economic diversification and workforce localization goals.
