Kuwait University will open applications for second-semester admissions for the 2026–2027 academic year starting December 16, Acting Dean of Admissions and Registration Dr. Fadhel Abbas Aziz announced. Electronic submissions will be accepted until December 23 for eligible applicants, including Kuwaiti nationals and citizens from Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries who completed their secondary education in Kuwait under various curricula, such as the unified national curriculum, the Religious Institute curriculum, as well as American and British systems. Students expected to graduate from English-curriculum schools can also apply.
Applicants classified under different admission categories who do not qualify for online submission must apply in person at the Admissions and Registration Hall located within Sabah Al-Salem University City. This in-person registration period will run from December 20 to 23 during official working hours, according to a recently announced schedule.
Admission for Kuwaiti applicants across all university colleges will be determined by an equivalent grade point average (GPA) or composite score, which incorporates results from the academic aptitude test and the percentage achieved in the high school diploma. The exception is the College of Science, where admission depends solely on the high school diploma percentage. Minimum eligibility criteria require a score of at least 70 percent in the scientific stream or 78 percent in the literary stream, alongside fulfillment of other admission prerequisites. Applications from students who do not meet these thresholds will be rejected.
Candidates eligible to apply electronically must use Kuwait University’s official admission portal. The confirmation period for admission specifically applies to graduates from American and British curricula who submit their applications online. Graduates of the unified national curriculum or Religious Institute are not required to complete confirmation in person, as their admission processes will be fully managed through electronic means.
In addition, scores from standardized English language proficiency exams—such as the TOEFL PBT, TOEFL iBT, or IELTS—may be used as alternatives to the English Academic Aptitude Test when calculating the equivalent GPA, provided these scores are submitted before the application deadline. These results may also exempt students from the preparatory English course if presented during the admission confirmation period or by the end of the first week of the semester in which they are admitted.
