Kuwait Wins 11 Trophies Across Age Groups at Arab Tennis Veterans Championship

Kuwait dominated the sixth Arab Tennis Veterans Championship in Sharm El Sheikh by winning 11 trophies across multiple age groups, including key titles in singles, doubles, and mixed doubles. The event, praised for its organization and competitive spirit, highlighted Sharm El Sheikh's capacity to host major sports events and reinforced regional efforts to promote veteran tennis.

The sixth edition of the Arab Tennis Veterans Championship concluded on June 13 in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt, with Kuwait emerging as the dominant force by securing 11 trophies across various age categories. Organized by the Arab Tennis Federation and held at the Red Sea resort city’s tennis courts, the event was sponsored by Kuwait Airways and conducted in cooperation with the Egyptian Tennis Federation.

The tournament drew widespread participation from Arab countries and featured a highly competitive atmosphere throughout its duration. The closing ceremony was attended by key figures, including Sheikh Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Abdullah Al-Sabah, Chairman of the Arab Tennis Federation; Secretary-General Ali Lafi Al-Mutairi; representatives from the Public Authority for Sport; officials of both the Arab and Egyptian tennis federations; and several sports dignitaries alongside the participating teams.

Kuwaiti players delivered standout performances, highlighted by Fahd Al-Haddad and Yacoub Al-Foudari winning the over-35 doubles title. Ahmed Dashti captured a triple crown, securing championships in the singles, doubles, and mixed doubles categories. Additional victories for Kuwait included the over-55 doubles title claimed by Adel Safar and Mohammed Bin Naji, as well as the over-65 doubles title won by Hassan Al-Yousifi and Safar. Al-Yousifi was also honored with the Fair Play Player award for his sportsmanship.

During his remarks at the closing event, Sheikh Ahmed Al-Jaber commended the Egyptian Tennis Federation for its successful organization of the championship, noting that the tournament received widespread praise from participating delegations. He emphasized Sharm El Sheikh’s capability to host major Arab sports competitions, highlighting the city’s robust infrastructure and the vibrant competitive environment that characterized the event.

Sheikh Al-Jaber also expressed gratitude to the Public Authority for Sport for their presence and thanked Kuwait Airways for its ongoing sponsorship, attributing the airline’s support as pivotal to raising the tournament’s technical, organizational, and media standards. The championship reinforced the region’s commitment to promoting veteran tennis and fostering athletic camaraderie among Arab nations.
