Kuwaiti investments in Oman grew by 4.6 percent in the first quarter of 2026, reaching OMR 1.444 billion (approximately $3.76 billion), according to data released on Saturday by Oman’s National Centre for Statistics and Information. This increase helped maintain Kuwait’s position as the largest Arab investor in the Sultanate and the third-largest foreign investor overall, behind the United Kingdom and the United States.

British investments in Oman rose significantly by 9.9 percent during the same period, totaling OMR 16.884 billion (around $44 billion). The United States also saw an increase in investments, growing by 10 percent to OMR 8.695 billion (approximately $22.6 billion). China ranked fourth among foreign investors, with investments amounting to OMR 901 million (about $2.35 billion), marking a 9.3 percent increase compared to the first quarter of 2025.

Overall foreign direct investment (FDI) inflows into Oman increased by 8.7 percent year-on-year, reaching OMR 32.197 billion (approximately $83.8 billion) by the end of March 2026. Investment inflows during the quarter totaled around OMR 2.567 billion (close to $6.7 billion).

The oil and gas extraction sector remained the dominant recipient of foreign investment, drawing OMR 25.888 billion (roughly $67.4 billion), which represented a 9.5 percent increase from the previous year. The manufacturing sector remained the second-largest area for investment, attracting OMR 2.87 billion (approximately $7.5 billion), reflecting a 5.4 percent growth. The financial intermediation sector followed, with OMR 1.565 billion (around $4 billion) in investments, increasing by 9.6 percent compared to the previous year.

The data highlights the continued diversification of Oman’s economy as well as sustained strong investor confidence from key global partners, particularly in energy, manufacturing, and financial services sectors.
