Kuwaiti oil prices increased significantly on Friday, rising by $2.88 to settle at $87.44 per barrel, according to the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC). This marked an upward shift from Thursday’s closing price of $84.56 per barrel. The increase reflects regional market dynamics and specific factors influencing Kuwaiti crude.
In contrast to Kuwait’s price movement, international benchmarks showed slight declines. Brent crude oil, a global pricing standard, decreased by 39 cents to end Friday’s trading at $89.31 per barrel. Meanwhile, the U.S. benchmark, West Texas Intermediate (WTI), dipped by 13 cents to close at $83.40 per barrel.
The divergent trends between Kuwaiti oil and global benchmarks underscore localized supply and demand factors affecting regional markets, while broader international influences have tempered prices elsewhere. The KPC’s report highlights Kuwait’s oil sector performance amid fluctuating energy market conditions as of late August 2026.
