Kuwait and Türkiye have reaffirmed their commitment to deepening a strategic partnership and expanding cooperation across multiple sectors, including defense, healthcare, tourism, agriculture, and trade. This was highlighted during a reception held by the Turkish Embassy in Kuwait City on October 29 to mark the 103rd anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Türkiye. The event was attended by senior Kuwaiti officials, members of the diplomatic corps, business representatives, and members of the Turkish community.

Turkish Ambassador to Kuwait Can Oğuz emphasized the significance of the partnership's elevation to a strategic level, describing the relationship with three key words: "potential, promise, and partnership." He pointed to the historic exchanges of visits between the two nations' leaders as evidence of their strong ties, including His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah’s visit to Türkiye in May 2024 and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s visit to Kuwait in October 2025. According to the ambassador, the strategic partnership rests on a foundation of close friendship and mutual trust between leaders, institutional cooperation through the Strategic Dialogue Mechanism, and longstanding bonds of solidarity between their peoples.

Defense cooperation was a central theme at the event, with both sides noting the acquisition by Kuwait of Turkish Bayraktar TB2 unmanned aerial vehicles as a milestone in military collaboration. Ambassador Oğuz also reiterated Türkiye’s solidarity with Kuwait amid regional security challenges, recalling Ankara’s condemnation of attacks threatening Kuwaiti security and emphasizing continued support for Kuwait’s defense.

On the economic front, Turkish firms are playing a notable role in Kuwait’s infrastructure development. The Turkish company Limak is currently undertaking the construction of Terminal Two (T2) at Kuwait International Airport, a project expected to enhance Kuwait’s status as a regional and international aviation hub. The ambassador highlighted growing Kuwaiti investment interests in Türkiye and underscored the significant potential for further expanding bilateral cooperation, particularly in trade and other business ventures.

Minister of Social, Family and Childhood Affairs Dr. Amthal Al-Huwailah, attending as guest of honor, conveyed Kuwait’s greetings to Türkiye on this national occasion and stressed the countries’ deep historical ties, ongoing development, and close coordination in various fields. The minister reiterated both nations’ commitment to solidifying cooperation for the benefit of their peoples.

In his remarks, Ambassador Oğuz paid tribute to Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, founder of the Republic of Türkiye, recalling his principle of “Peace at home, peace in the world” as a guiding philosophy for Türkiye’s independent and multidimensional foreign policy aimed at contributing to regional and global peace and stability.

Both sides expressed optimism about the future of their bilateral relations, signaling continued efforts toward a stronger, more prosperous partnership.
