Kuwait’s Fatwa and Legislation Department Deputy Head, Counselor Hanan Al-Eidan, was honored with the 2026 Excellence Award for Technical Members of GCC Legislation Departments on Saturday. The award was presented during the 31st meeting of the Standing Committee of Officials of Legislation Departments in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, which took place in Bahrain.

The ceremony marked the inaugural presentation of this award by the GCC General Secretariat, aiming to recognize the efforts and contributions of technical staff within the legislation departments of member states. According to Qutaiba Al-Dabbous, a lawyer and member of Kuwait’s delegation, the award highlights the professional expertise and notable achievements in legislative work across the GCC. It also serves to promote excellence and encourage the sharing of regional legislative experience to enhance the quality of lawmaking efforts.

Kuwait’s delegation to the meeting was led by Counselor Jawhar Al-Maqroun, Deputy Head and Head of the Legislation Sector, accompanied by several other officials from the Fatwa and Legislation Department. The committee’s discussions centered on strengthening cooperation among GCC countries, exchanging expertise, and advancing the legislative framework in the region.

The event reflects ongoing efforts by GCC states to improve legislative collaboration and develop cohesive policies to address shared challenges. By fostering a platform for legislative officials to engage and recognize outstanding contributions, the GCC seeks to support the professional development of those involved in drafting and reviewing laws across member countries.
