Kuwait has sustained its global humanitarian efforts by delivering aid and development projects across multiple continents, targeting vulnerable populations in regions affected by conflict, poverty, and hardship. Through coordinated initiatives led by Kuwaiti charitable societies, with support from donors and government entities, the country is addressing urgent needs in areas including Yemen, the Gaza Strip, Jordan, Djibouti, Sudan, Somalia, India, Bangladesh, and other African countries.
A centerpiece of these efforts is the "Kuwait Is by Your Side" campaign, which blends emergency relief with programs focused on education, healthcare, food security, and access to clean water. In Yemen, the Insan Charitable Society recently inaugurated the Insan 2 School in the Marib Governorate's Airport neighborhood, providing education for up to 2,200 boys and girls. Sheikh Dr. Othman Al-Khamis, chairman of the society’s board, highlighted the school’s role in alleviating pressure on existing educational facilities and promoting long-term human development amid ongoing challenges in Yemen. The school features 12 classrooms and operates on a two-shift system to maximize enrollment capacity. The project, implemented with support from the Kafil Foundation, exemplifies Kuwait’s commitment to sustaining children’s education despite adverse conditions.
In the Gaza Strip, the Peace Association for Humanitarian and Charitable Works is advancing a feeding initiative that began on September 25, reaching over 70,000 beneficiaries. According to the association’s director general, Hamad Al-Aoun, the project has distributed around 4,000 food baskets, 10,000 ready-made meals, and has provided potable water via 70 water tankers, directly aiding approximately 40,000 people. The association plans to expand this support amidst ongoing food and water shortages and is preparing to launch its annual winter campaign delivering food, clothing, and heating supplies to vulnerable families in multiple countries.
In Jordan, the Al-Najat Charitable Society has extended assistance to orphans, Syrian refugees, and other needy families. Ehab Al-Dabbous, director of the Al-Fahaheel Zakat Office linked to the society, reported that sponsorships have been provided to nearly 1,300 orphans from Jordan and Syrian refugee communities. Efforts include distribution of educational supplies, Eid clothing, psychological support, and recreational activities, alongside food aid and winter supplies for hundreds of families. The society emphasizes comprehensive care that encompasses financial, educational, and social support, working in coordination with local ministries to ensure aid reaches eligible recipients.
Humanitarian aid to Yemeni families in Djibouti has been delivered by Rahma International Society, which has supplied food, clothing, healthcare, and drinking water to displaced and vulnerable populations. Walid Al-Suwailem, head of its Djibouti delegation, indicated the distribution of 1,000 food baskets, clothing sets, milk for children, and medical assistance for 500 people. The society also provided water through three community coolers servicing a camp with over 5,000 residents.
Complementing these efforts, the Quranic Platforms Association has initiated water and infrastructure projects in India, Bangladesh, Somalia, Sudan, Yemen, and various African countries. Among its recent achievements are the installation of 25 water wells in South Asia and the opening of three mosques in Africa. Their activities include food distributions and emergency relief campaigns, incorporating shelter, bedding, and clean water for displaced Yemeni families.
Kuwait’s multifaceted humanitarian approach, involving government agencies, charitable organizations, and private donors, continues to address immediate crises while fostering sustainable development. These initiatives underscore Kuwait’s enduring commitment to alleviating human suffering, improving living standards, and supporting communities facing displacement, instability, and resource shortages worldwide.
