Kuwait’s national athletics team added five medals on Sunday at the Arab Athletics Championships for Under-16 and Under-23 categories, held at the Suez Canal Authority Stadium in Ismailia, Egypt. These results increased Kuwait’s total medal count at the event to six.
Competing among athletes from 14 Arab nations, Kuwaiti competitors captured four silver medals and one bronze. Fahad Al-Dhafeeri secured silver in the Under-16 long jump final with a personal best of 6.40 meters. Talal Al-Yaqout also won silver in the Under-16 100-meter hurdles, finishing with a time of 13.95 seconds.
In the Under-23 division, Hussein Al-Tamimi earned silver in the shot put with a throw of 16.98 meters. The 100-meter hurdles event saw Jassim Al-Janaei claim silver, clocking in at 14.08 seconds, while his teammate Abdullah Al-Munais took bronze in the same race with a time of 14.16 seconds.
Kuwait had begun its medal tally on Saturday when Mohammed Nasser won gold in the pole vault, achieving a personal best of 3.70 meters. The championships, which continue through June 24, combine the third Arab Under-23 Athletics Championships and the first Arab Under-16 Championships. The event is organized under the supervision of Egypt’s Ministry of Youth and Sports, with officials overseeing preparations to ensure a successful competition.
