A Los Angeles homeowner has expressed frustration after an extended wait and an unsuccessful attempt to repair a large pothole on his property. According to a post on Reddit, the pothole had been accumulating debris for more than a year despite repeated requests for repair submitted to the county in May 2025.

The homeowner was surprised early Monday morning when county workers arrived with an asphalt truck to address the issue. However, rather than properly filling the pothole, the resident reported that the crew left asphalt scattered around, giving the appearance that the work was rushed and poorly executed. “They’re here for maybe 30 minutes then leave,” the homeowner wrote. “I get a chance to check out the work eventually and I’m laughing at how bad this is,” calling it the “worst pothole filling I’ve ever seen, after 13 months waiting.”

Residents online have criticized the quality of the repair and directed their frustration toward city leadership, particularly Mayor Karen Bass. Comments on the post described the situation as reflective of broader infrastructure neglect. One user referred to the area as “Karen Bass’s Los Angeles. Third world s--t,” while another warned that the poor patch job would fail once rain arrives.

The city of Los Angeles has faced significant challenges in maintaining its roadways amid severe budget shortfalls. Previous reports have highlighted that a majority of the city’s 22,000 lane miles are in a state of structural failure, forcing officials to scale back paving projects across the municipality.
