Lady Louise Windsor was personally presented with the Duke of Edinburgh’s Gold Award during a ceremony held at Holyrood Palace in Edinburgh on July 3, 2026. At 22 years old, she was among more than 600 young recipients honored with the program’s highest-level certificate at the event.
Prince Edward, the Earl of Wessex and Lady Louise’s father, who also serves as patron of the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme, commended her for completing all stages of the award. The prince, 62, noted that it was a significant milestone as she received the certificate in person, unlike her previous awards which were distributed during pandemic-related restrictions.
The Duke of Edinburgh Award, established by Prince Philip in 1956, encourages young people to develop skills, engage in physical activities, volunteer, and undertake adventurous journeys. Prince Edward himself received his Gold Award from Prince Philip in 1986, highlighting a family tradition of participation in the program.
Lady Louise’s achievement reflects the program’s continued appeal and impact on youth development across the United Kingdom. The ceremony at the historic Scottish palace served as a formal recognition of the dedication and commitment demonstrated by all awardees in completing the rigorous requirements of the Duke of Edinburgh Award.
