TEK4, a laser technology manufacturer based in Blaby, near Leicester, is preparing to list on the London Stock Exchange’s AIM market on October 26, marking a notable flotation for a British advanced manufacturing company. Specializing in precision machinery used to manufacture turbine blades for jet engines and power plants, TEK4’s machines utilize laser and electrical discharge methods to drill micron-scale holes, enabling turbine components to function under extreme temperature conditions.
The company reports that approximately 95% of its products are exported, predominantly to customers in the United States and Europe. Its client base includes major industry players such as GE Vernova, Siemens, Rolls-Royce, General Electric, Pratt & Whitney, and Safran, with additional sales to the medical and automotive sectors. TEK4’s machines are priced between £300,000 and £750,000 each.
In 2025, the company recorded revenues of £16 million—nearly double the figure from the previous year—driven by sales of more than 40 machines. Profits for the year increased to £4.2 million, more than triple the prior year’s amount. The business, which employs around 70 people, anticipates revenues nearly doubling again within the next three years.
TEK4 is debt-free and generates positive cash flow, according to its financial statements. It plans to expand production capacity at its Blaby facility by adding a second assembly line. Approximately 30% of the company’s revenue stems from aftersales services, including maintenance and retrofitting of installed machinery.
Founder Jason Duffin, 66, who brings extensive experience in Midlands engineering, will retain an estimated 30% ownership following the flotation. Shares worth about £20 million will be made available, representing the stake held by co-investor Robin Womersley, a 55-year-old corporate financier and private equity adviser. The IPO process is supported by Panmure Libenum.
TEK4 describes its products as “mission critical” with technology that offers high accuracy and repeatability—essential qualities for aerospace and industrial gas turbine manufacturing. The company highlights its long-standing relationships with leading turbine manufacturers and component suppliers, which provide recurring revenue from service contracts.
The firm’s strategy focuses on deepening its presence in existing aerospace and industrial turbine markets while continuing to develop new products and technologies. It relies on proprietary technologies, patents, specialist engineering expertise, and ongoing research and development to maintain a competitive advantage. Expanding manufacturing capacity remains a key priority as TEK4 seeks to meet growing demand in its specialised sectors.
