Lauren Henry secured a historic victory for Britain by becoming the first British woman to win gold in the Single Scull event at the World Rowing Championships, held recently in Amsterdam. Henry overtook Olympic champion Karolien Florijn after 1,200 meters into the race and maintained her lead to the finish line.

Henry expressed her disbelief and gratitude following the win, crediting her coach, Andrew Randell, for his dedication and support throughout her training. “I can’t believe it,” she said. “So much of it is down to my coach, Andrew Randell. He’s put so much time and effort in, and I know he’ll be crying somewhere, as it’s been our dream to do this. I’m so proud we managed to do it.”

In addition to Henry's individual success, the British men’s and women’s eights teams both earned silver medals, each breaking previous world best times in their respective events. The performances underscored a strong showing for British rowing overall at the championships.
