Lazio secured a 2-1 victory at Udinese on Monday to maintain their perfect start to the Serie A season, joining Roma and Inter Milan as the only teams with three wins from three matches. This marked the first time Lazio scored more than one goal in a match this campaign, lifting them to third place on goal difference.

The hosts opened the scoring early in the second half when Jesper Karlstrom found the net four minutes after halftime, becoming the first player to score against Lazio this season. The goal originated from a clever backheel by English forward Keinan Davis, who released Karlstrom into space behind the Lazio defense. The Swedish midfielder calmly lifted the ball through the legs of goalkeeper Christos Mandas to give Udinese the lead.

Lazio responded through midfielder Davide Frattesi, who had netted in each of the club’s previous two matches. In the 75th minute, Mattia Zaccagni broke past his marker on the left wing and delivered a low cross into the six-yard box, where Frattesi was able to stretch and volley the ball into the top corner, marking his third goal of the season.

To chase the winning goal, coach Gennaro Gattuso substituted Frattesi in the 80th minute, bringing on Albert Gudmundsson. Zaccagni came close to a winner shortly after, hitting a shot off the post. The decisive moment arrived in the 88th minute when Lazio again exploited the left flank. Danilho Doekhi advanced toward the goal line and sent an outswinging cross into the penalty area, which Gudmundsson met with a header to secure the victory.

Lazio’s comeback emphasized their attacking depth and resilience, ensuring they remain unbeaten at the top end of the Serie A standings as the season progresses.
