Lazio moved level with Inter Milan at the top of Serie A after securing a 3-1 victory over Monza on Sunday, as other top contenders struggled to claim full points. The win marks Lazio’s fifth victory in six matches this season under coach Gennaro Gattuso, who has guided the team to remain unbeaten in the league.

Lazio took an early lead when Nuno Tavares scored a spectacular long-range goal in the third minute. Gustav Isaksen added a second midway through the first half. Monza was reduced to ten players in the 35th minute after Lorenzo Lucchesi was sent off for a foul on Tijjani Noslin during a breakaway. Despite being a man down, Monza rallied after halftime, pulling one goal back and threatening an equalizer before Lazio sealed the win with a late goal.

The result leaves Lazio and Inter Milan level on 16 points after six rounds. Inter secured a 3-0 win at San Siro against Parma on Saturday, maintaining their unbeaten start.

Roma, meanwhile, remain three points behind the leaders in third place after a 0-0 draw at Como on Sunday. The match was marred by a red card for Donyell Malen, which left the visitors with ten men. Roma were unable to capitalize on their opponents and fell further behind in the title race.

AC Milan dropped points in a 1-1 draw against Sassuolo, extending their recent run of draws. Matteo Gabbia was forced off early due to injury, and the visitors fell behind before Luka Modric assisted Adrien Rabiot for a late equalizer. The draw leaves AC Milan in fifth place, four points behind the league leaders.

Surprise package Cagliari continued their strong start with a 1-1 draw against Juventus in Sardinia. Daniel Maldini, celebrating his 25th birthday, scored his fourth consecutive goal, giving Cagliari the lead. Juventus dominated possession but struggled to break down the best defensive side in the league. Randal Kolo Muani rescued a point with a late header in the 81st minute and nearly completed the turnaround with a shot that hit the crossbar.

The match saw tensions boil over at full time, resulting in red cards for both coaches—Fabio Pisacane of Cagliari and Juventus’ Luciano Spalletti. Spalletti later described the incident as a minor dispute over time-wasting complaints rather than a serious altercation.

Off the pitch, Lazio continue to face fan protests targeting club owner Claudio Lotito, with attendances at their home stadium noticeably diminished due to boycotts.

As the league heads into its next phase, Lazio and Inter lead the pack, while Roma, Cagliari, Juventus, and AC Milan remain within striking distance in a closely contested Serie A campaign.
