Leaders’ Forum Qatar (LFQ) marked Engineers’ Day with a ceremony held at Maestro Hall, Skills Development Centre in Doha, bringing together senior professionals, emerging engineers, and members of the Indian expatriate community. The event aimed to celebrate contributions to the engineering profession and foster intergenerational collaboration.

The programme was presided over by PN Babu Rajan, a founding member of LFQ and former president of the Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and Indian Community Benevolent Fund (ICBF). Sameer Moosa served as the master of ceremonies, while HP Singh Bhullar, another founding member of LFQ and former General Secretary of ICC, presented the keynote address.

During the event, two engineers were honoured for their contributions. KS Prasad, a civil engineering graduate from the 1979 batch of the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Warangal and a founding member of LFQ, received recognition for his extensive career spanning over four decades, which includes significant contributions to the engineering field as well as active involvement in social and cultural activities. He was also awarded Honorary Membership of the International Tamil Engineers Forum (ITEF), Qatar Chapter, becoming its 1,112th member. The membership plaque was presented by ITEF Qatar Chapter President Eng Karthik Kadappa and team. Additionally, members of the Telugu community honoured Prasad with a traditional shawl, acknowledging his support for engineering professionals and community initiatives.

The other honoree was Abhinav Manikantan, an electronics and communication engineering graduate from the 2017 batch of NIT Delhi. As a younger member of the engineering community in Qatar, his recognition underscored the importance of integrating modern technical expertise with established professional experience.

Speakers at the event emphasized the parallels between engineering and society, noting that just as successful engineering relies on sound design, structure, and collaboration, a resilient society depends on shared values and collective responsibility. The presence of both an experienced professional like Prasad and a young engineer like Manikantan was highlighted as a symbol of constructive intergenerational collaboration within the community.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks from Krishnakumar Bandhakavi. Leaders’ Forum Qatar continues to serve as a platform for social and cultural activists committed to fostering community engagement across diverse fields and generations.
