Leamington and Gainsborough Trinity played out a 1-1 draw in an FA Cup match, preventing Leamington from securing back-to-back victories in the competition for the first time since 2005. The game marked Leamington’s return to this stage of the tournament after an 18-year absence.

Gainsborough dominated much of the first half, although clear chances were limited. Trinity, trailing by a goal, found an equalizer just past the 60-minute mark when Connor Brown poked in Fraser Preston’s cross from the left wing into the six-yard box. Preston then appeared to have secured the win for Gainsborough later in the game when he connected with a cross from substitute Javelle Clarke, but Okonkwo made a vital save at the last moment to keep the ball from crossing the line.

In the closing stages, play shifted back to Leamington’s goalmouth, with Howard producing an acrobatic save to deny debutant Kai Tonge. With no further goals scored, the teams will meet again in a replay to decide which side progresses in the FA Cup.
