Leanne Brown, former cast member of the reality series Real Housewives of Cheshire and ex-wife of England and Manchester United footballer Wes Brown, has opened up about the financial difficulties that led to a drastic change in her lifestyle. Once accustomed to luxury, including designer shopping sprees and Bentley drives, Brown revealed she had to sell many of her possessions and downsize after a series of poor financial decisions, including a £500,000 loan to fellow reality star Dawn Ward and her husband, which reportedly was never repaid. These setbacks contributed to Wes Brown’s bankruptcy and prompted Leanne to step away from the show.

Now living in a rented home, Brown described recent years as the darkest of her life, marked by the loss of their Cheshire properties and the necessity to pawn jewelry and sell designer clothing to manage everyday expenses. She recounted reaching a breaking point in March of last year when, overwhelmed by the pressures of mounting debts, a failing marriage, and job uncertainty, she experienced what she described as a breakdown. With the support of close friends, including fellow Wag Coleen Rooney, Brown said she found the strength to move forward.

Reflecting on a previous life of privilege, Brown noted how her perspective has shifted, emphasizing the value she now places on her relationships with family and trusted friends. Her experience has also inspired her to forge a new career path focused on wellbeing and empowerment. Trained in yoga, reiki, and coaching, she runs a company aimed at supporting women through challenging life transitions. Brown has authored a course titled Grief To Growth and plans to release a book, Divine Power — A Woman’s Guide To Reclaiming Herself, sharing the strategies that helped her recover.

Brown and Wes Brown, who married in 2009 and share three daughters, are currently divorcing. The couple’s relationship began when she was a 21-year-old lap dancer and he was rising in professional football. Despite their separation, Brown said she remains focused on rebuilding her life and finding happiness once again. She addressed rumors about her personal life, confirming she is single and straight, and clarified misconceptions about her relationship with female friends.

Brown also spoke about her connections within the footballers’ wives community, recalling fond memories from the peak of the Wag culture and noting her ongoing friendship with Coleen Rooney, who recently launched a family documentary series. However, she confirmed that her relationship with Dawn Ward remains strained due to financial disputes.

As Wes Brown moves forward as a Manchester United club ambassador and in a new relationship, Leanne Brown is dedicated to her work helping others regain control over their lives after hardship, drawing from her own experience of loss and recovery.
