Lebanese Minister of Information Dr. Paul Morcos has commended Qatar for its efforts to ease regional tensions and contribute to stability in Lebanon. Speaking on the developments surrounding recent negotiations, Morcos highlighted Qatar’s significant role alongside other Arab states in fostering a more secure environment within the country.
Morcos emphasized that the primary goals of the framework agreement between Lebanon and Israel include securing the full liberation of Lebanese territory, facilitating the return of prisoners and displaced individuals, supporting the reconstruction of affected villages and towns, and restoring stability to Lebanon’s southern regions. These aims, he noted, are central to the diplomatic initiative put forward by Lebanese President Joseph Aoun.
The minister’s remarks underscore a broader regional effort to resolve longstanding disputes between Lebanon and Israel, with the framework arrangement representing a key element in addressing outstanding issues. While details of the negotiations remain limited, the Lebanese government appears focused on ensuring that the outcomes prioritize territorial sovereignty, humanitarian concerns, and renewed stability.
Qatar’s engagement reflects its growing role as a mediator in Middle Eastern affairs, where it has sought to bridge divides and encourage dialogue among conflicting parties. Lebanon’s acknowledgment of Qatar’s influence signals an ongoing collaboration aimed at reducing conflict and promoting peace in the region.
