Leeds Rhinos have secured the signing of former Australia international Dylan Walker ahead of the next Super League season. The 31-year-old forward, capable of playing multiple positions within the pack, has agreed to a three-year contract that will commence following the conclusion of the current NRL season with the Parramatta Eels.
Walker boasts a notable career, including four appearances for the Australian Kangaroos and a premiership win with South Sydney Rabbitohs in 2014. In addition to his time at South Sydney, he has also featured for the New Zealand Warriors. His versatility and experience in high-level rugby league competitions are expected to strengthen Leeds’ forward options as they aim to maintain their strong position at the top of the Super League.
Brad Arthur, head coach of Leeds Rhinos, acknowledged the loss of some experienced players from the pack ahead of next season but expressed confidence in Walker’s arrival. “Dylan is a great professional and will be a good addition to our current group,” Arthur said. “We are obviously losing some experience from our pack next season but I am pleased we have been able to add Dylan to our group.”
Walker’s move to Leeds represents a significant recruitment for the club as they pursue continued success in the Super League. His arrival will provide the Rhinos with additional depth and tactical flexibility, with the forward bringing years of experience from both the NRL and international rugby league to the northern hemisphere competition.
