Leek Town mounted a late rally to secure a 2-2 draw against Ashton United in a tightly contested match on Saturday. The Robins took an early lead at Leek’s home ground, but the Blues fought back from two goals down to earn a valuable point.

Ashton United began strongly, nearly scoring immediately from the kickoff. Captain Al Byrne was released through on goal, but Leek’s new signing, goalkeeper Yusuf Mersin, reacted quickly to make a vital save. The visitors broke the deadlock in the 13th minute when Nathan Okome scored from close range, capitalizing on Byrne’s earlier saved attempt.

Ashton extended their advantage in the 31st minute with a long-range effort from Spencer Knight that found its way in off the post. The Robins continued to press and came close to increasing their lead before halftime, with Darius Osei delivering a cross to Kurt Willoughby, who was unable to convert at the back post.

Leek Town began the second half with greater urgency. Their efforts paid off in the 66th minute when Alex Hurst set up Jack Griffiths to score, reducing the deficit to 2-1. Despite missing a chance to equalize shortly afterward, Connor Heath's miss did not deter the home side.

In stoppage time, Hurst emerged as the match’s decisive figure. He met a cross to head home the equalizer, completing Leek’s comeback and securing a share of the points for the Blues. The match concluded 2-2, reflecting a resilient performance from Leek Town after trailing for much of the game.
