Qatar’s Internal Security Force, Lekhwiya, has introduced a new water generation system capable of producing potable water from atmospheric moisture. Developed by its Security Technologies Department, the device, named “Badr” in honor of Badr Saad Mohammed Al Humaidi Al Dosari, a member killed during an Israeli attack on Doha last year, aims to enhance water security through advanced technology.

The system works by extracting moisture from the air and converting it into clean drinking water that complies with rigorous international safety and quality standards. It is designed to mitigate risks from chemical and radioactive contaminants, making it suitable for diverse environments and emergency situations.

Two models of the “Badr” system have been developed to accommodate varying operational needs. The first is an indoor device with a daily production capacity of 200 liters, sufficient to fill approximately 600 standard 330-milliliter bottles. The second, intended for larger-scale applications, can produce up to 5,000 liters per day—equivalent to about 12,000 standard bottles. Both units feature the capability to operate using solar energy, supporting sustainable and independent energy use in field conditions.

This innovation reflects Lekhwiya’s commitment to improving operational preparedness and emergency response, particularly in scenarios where access to clean water may be limited or compromised. The system’s ability to generate substantial quantities of potable water on-site positions it as a valuable asset for security operations and disaster relief efforts.
