Lenny Henry has spoken candidly about reaching a turning point in his career that led him to shift focus from comedy to acting. The 67-year-old entertainer described hitting a creative "wall," which prompted him to seek a new challenge and reinvent himself professionally.

In an interview on the Dish podcast, Henry explained that he had stopped enjoying stand-up comedy as he once did. "I wasn't quite enjoying it like I used to. I felt like I was just doing it," he said, reflecting on his decision to explore acting roles to see if audiences would accept him in a more serious capacity.

Henry's acting career includes notable stage performances in Shakespearean productions in 2009 and 2011, which marked the beginning of his transition. More recently, he has been recognized for his work in television, appearing in the ITV crime drama Broadchurch as well as the Amazon series The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.

Despite stepping away from comedy for a time, Henry has now returned to stand-up and is currently touring with his first solo show since 2010, titled Still At Large, throughout the United Kingdom. The tour marks a renewed passion for live comedy after years of exploring other facets of his artistic work.
