Hyatt’s lifestyle brand Andaz has launched its second hotel in Shanghai, situated within the International Trade Centre (ITC) complex in the historic Xujiahui district. The 15-story property, Andaz Shanghai ITC, is part of a large mixed-use development featuring retail outlets, dining options, and a direct connection to the city’s metro system.
The hotel occupies a comparatively modest footprint next to the towering 70-story glass skyscraper nearby, reaching 370 meters in height. Located near the Former French Concession area, the hotel blends the city’s historic European architectural influences with contemporary design and urban amenities. Guests check in on the 14th floor, where they can also access restaurants and enjoy panoramic views of the city skyline.
Interior design firm HBA sought to evoke the character of old Shanghai throughout the hotel’s 267 guestrooms and public spaces. The concept frames each floor as a distinct “corner” of the city, together creating a vertical neighborhood infused with the charm and atmosphere of Shanghai’s heritage laneways. This approach is especially visible in the hotel lobby and corridors, which feature design elements inspired by the city’s traditional alleyway culture.
Guestrooms range from 45 square meters upward and are designed with a residential feel. Each room includes floor-to-ceiling windows, spa-style bathrooms, and in many cases, outdoor terraces. The rooms’ front doors resemble classic house doors, reinforcing a private, home-like environment. Interior details include wall silhouettes of plane trees found along nearby boulevards, freestanding wardrobes rather than built-in closets, and versatile seating areas for dining, work, or relaxation.
Rooms are equipped with premium amenities such as Simmons mattresses, coffee machines, Dyson hairdryers, and bespoke toiletries from Swedish fragrance brand Byredo. A complimentary minibar stocked with non-alcoholic beverages is provided, along with irons and steamers. Guests are greeted with an Osmanthus tea ritual, and each evening features a turndown service that includes Osmanthus-scented bath bombs and tea-infused pillow sprays. A daily happy hour is also part of the guest experience.
Dining options within the hotel include The East Wing, which serves Shanghainese home-style dishes and is set in a spacious room with high ceilings, canopy-style lighting, and a terrace filled with plants. The West Wing offers a deli-style setup with European and local cuisine, functioning concurrently as a wine bar offering small plates such as Spanish tapas and Italian meats.
The hotel also features a rooftop bar on the 14th floor, providing skyline views and a menu centered on tea-based cocktails. The bar’s conservatory-style setting incorporates distinctive mushroom-shaped stools and abundant greenery. Additional amenities include a 15-meter lap pool overlooking the city and a 24-hour fitness center designed to evoke a private club atmosphere.
Room rates start at approximately RMB 2,200 (around $465) per night.
