Lewes secured a 2-1 away victory over Cray Wanderers on Saturday, snapping the home side’s unbeaten league record and climbing into fourth place in the standings. The win also served as revenge for Lewes following their defeat to Cray in the FA Cup last month.

The visitors began the match strongly, with Tyler Cox opening the scoring early. Cox was played in down the right flank and finished confidently into the bottom left corner, marking his first goal of the campaign. Cray Wanderers sought an immediate response, with Jakob Lowe’s effort thwarted by a solid save from Lewes goalkeeper Louis Rogers.

Both teams created chances in the first half, including attempts from Lewes’ Charlie Walker and Cray’s Ola Ogunwamide, but neither struck the target. Cray eventually equalized in the 27th minute when Lowe’s shot was parried by Rogers, allowing Ade Yusuff to capitalize with a close-range finish for his tenth goal of the season.

Lewes regained the lead 10 minutes later through Ryan Gondoh, who delivered a high-quality strike after cutting in from the right. The ball dipped over Cray’s goalkeeper JJ Briggs and found the back of the net, giving Lewes a narrow advantage at halftime.

The second half saw Lewes start confidently, although Cray mounted pressure with several half-chances. Lateef Adaja’s cross narrowly missed Jakob Lowe, and Crossley Lema fired an effort over the bar, while Adaja’s shot was deflected wide.

In the closing stages, Cray pushed for an equalizer. Tobi Tinibu’s effort was saved by Rogers, preserving Lewes’ lead. The visitors managed to hold firm to secure the victory, their third away league win of the season. The result sees Lewes advance in the league table, while Cray Wanderers’ unbeaten home run comes to an end.
