Lewis Hamilton described his experience at the British Grand Prix as a challenging one, citing a series of setbacks during the race at Silverstone that compromised his performance. The seven-time world champion encountered a false start, a stewards' investigation, and a pit stop decision that ultimately hindered his chances in front of his home crowd.

Hamilton, 41, was penalized five seconds for moving before the start lights went out, an infraction that disrupted his race rhythm early on. He also faced scrutiny from race officials over a yellow-flag infringement but avoided further penalties, receiving only a minimal warning. These incidents, combined with a late-race pit stop called by his team on lap 49, prevented him from challenging George Russell for a higher position. Russell, another British driver, opted to stay on track and managed to finish ahead of Hamilton, who was unable to overtake before the race ended under the safety car.

Reflecting on the race, Hamilton said the momentum from his strong Friday performance did not carry through the event. “The magic I had on Friday disappeared through the weekend. A jump start, a yellow flag infringement... when it rains it pours,” he remarked. Hamilton acknowledged that the race was “pretty bad from the get-go,” highlighting the accumulation of errors and misfortunes.

The race saw Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc take third place, further adding to Hamilton’s disappointment as the Ferrari driver triumphed on his home turf. Meanwhile, championship leader Kimi Antonelli experienced significant misfortune, dropping from second to 16th after sustaining damage late in the race.

Hamilton expressed some regret over the late pit stop, stating he assumed it would maintain his position rather than diminish it. “The team asked me to stop. I assumed we would be holding position. If they had told me to stop being in the losing position, I wouldn’t have,” he explained.

Overall, Hamilton's race at Silverstone was marked by a series of challenges that undermined his weekend and left him short of the podium finish he had hoped for.
