Lexington secured its second consecutive title at the MIAA Girls’ Division 1 Track Championships, finishing with 118 points to outpace Newton North, which scored 75, and Wachusett, which tallied 61.5. The event showcased a range of strong individual and team performances across multiple divisions.
Lexington’s Ainsley Cuthbertson stood out with victories in both the discus, throwing 133 feet, 7 inches, and the shot put, with a mark of 41 feet, 5 inches. The team also gained critical points from its 4x800-meter relay quartet—Callie Glenn, Natalie Bielat, Janie Conrad, and Amelia Whorton—who claimed the event title.
Whorton further demonstrated her versatility and endurance by winning the mile run in 4 minutes, 52.66 seconds, bolstering Lexington’s dominant showing.
Meanwhile, other divisions featured remarkable performances as well. In Division 2, freshman Evelyn Wesling captured the 800-meter title, signaling her emergence as a notable contender in the middle distances. Division 3 saw a historic team victory as the Canton girls’ squad won the championship for the first time in 43 years, highlighting the competitiveness and depth across the state’s high school track scene.
The championships brought together top female athletes from across Massachusetts to compete in a range of events, underscoring the strength and depth of the state’s high school track programs. Lexington’s repeat triumph added to its growing legacy in girls’ track, while standout individual performances across all divisions reflected a promising future for many of the sport’s rising stars.
