Liam Rosenior has been appointed head coach of Ligue 1 club Paris FC, signing a two-year contract following the departure of previous manager Antoine Kombouare. The announcement comes after Rosenior's dismissal from Chelsea in April, where he managed the Premier League side for just 106 days, achieving 11 wins in 23 matches.
Rosenior, a former defender who played for Hull City and Fulham, returns to French football after previously managing Strasbourg. He led Strasbourg to a seventh-place finish in Ligue 1 last season, securing the club’s qualification for European competition for the first time in eight years. Rosenior left Strasbourg midway through the 2025-2026 season to take over at Chelsea, where he was awarded a six-year deal but struggled to produce consistent results. A series of five consecutive league losses without scoring ultimately led to his sacking.
Paris FC confirmed that Kombouare, who was appointed in February and successfully helped steer the club away from relegation, had parted ways with the team. The club expressed confidence that Rosenior aligns well with their sporting philosophy and long-term vision.
Sporting Director Marco Neppe highlighted Rosenior’s qualities, describing him as a “modern, demanding coach” recognized for his tactical skills and ability to develop players and foster team unity. Neppe emphasized Rosenior’s leadership and capacity to bring the squad together around a clear project as key factors in his appointment.
In his first statement as Paris FC head coach, Rosenior expressed enthusiasm for his new role. He said he aims to create a team that enjoys playing football with intensity and enthusiasm while allowing players to express themselves on the pitch.
Rosenior’s return to Ligue 1 marks a swift transition after a challenging period in English football, and Paris FC hopes his experience and vision will build on the progress made under Kombouare to establish the club more firmly in the top flight of French football.
