Lindsey Vonn, the American alpine ski champion, has shown significant progress in her recovery following a severe crash during the women’s downhill event at the Winter Olympics held in Italy this past February. Vonn, 41, sustained major injuries to her leg and ankle that required eight surgeries and posed the risk of amputation.

Once confined to a wheelchair, Vonn recently appeared at a US Open gala in New York, signaling a notable improvement in her mobility. At the event, she was seen wearing nude heels and an olive-green CindyLou halter maxi dress, though medical tape remained visible on her left calf and knee, highlighting that her recovery remains ongoing.

Despite her advances, Vonn has not yet decided whether she will return to competitive skiing. She acknowledged the uncertainty surrounding her future in the sport, stating that she may never race again and that she is prepared for that possibility. The former Olympic gold medallist’s focus now appears to be on her rehabilitation and adapting to her new circumstances following the accident.
