Lionel Richie has canceled two upcoming concerts following an onstage incident that led to his hospitalization. The 77-year-old singer experienced dizziness while performing “Dancing on the Ceiling” on Wednesday night in St. Paul, Minnesota, causing him to sit down multiple times before ultimately leaving the stage. This event marked the opening night of his 26-city Sing a Song All Night Long tour.
Live Nation Chicago announced on Thursday via Instagram that Richie would not perform at scheduled shows in Chicago on Thursday and Columbus, Ohio, on Friday. According to the announcement, medical professionals advised Richie to rest and focus on fully recovering before returning to the stage. Despite the cancellations, Richie and his co-headliner Earth, Wind & Fire are expected to perform together on Tuesday in Pittsburgh.
The post expressed Richie’s regret over postponing the two concerts, noting that he looks forward to resuming performances for his fans once he regains his health. Richie himself has not yet made a public statement regarding the incident or his current condition.
