The Argentina international sustained the injury during the first half of the World Cup final against Spain, where his team was defeated 1-0. Despite the setback, Martinez, who was named in the tournament’s Team of the Tournament, is anticipated to be fit for Manchester United’s opening match against newly promoted Hull City on August 22.

Martinez, 28, faced challenges during the previous campaign, with injuries restricting him to 19 appearances across all competitions. Additionally, he missed three Premier League matches after receiving a straight red card in April for an incident involving Leeds United’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin during a 2-1 home defeat.

His return is considered a significant boost for Manchester United’s defensive lineup as they prepare to compete in the new season.
