Luke Littler, the reigning back-to-back world darts champion, is set to face a field of 20 competitors in the upcoming Netflix special “Beat Luke Littler,” which will air live on October 30. The 19-year-old champion, widely known as “Luke the Nuke,” will attempt to win 20 consecutive legs against amateur players for a prize of £501,000.

The contestants, who earned their places through a rigorous audition process, include an Australian jockey and a pair of teenage brothers from Essex. To qualify, each hopeful had to complete a 501 checkout leg in 24 shots or fewer and receive approval from 16-time world darts champion Phil Taylor. Despite this, the final contestant selection was made by the show’s producers, adding an element of unpredictability to the competition.

Littler, confident in his abilities, has made clear that he will not hold back during the contest. He emphasized that the high stakes will ensure he competes at full intensity, noting that the format requires him to maintain a winning streak for the entire 20 legs. The game ends if any challenger defeats him in a single leg, putting added pressure on both sides.

“I’ll be wanting to beat everyone,” Littler said, acknowledging that nerves might affect him early on but that he expects to find his rhythm quickly. He plans to maintain his usual preparation routine, which includes practice sessions punctuated by brief breaks.

The show is hosted by Gary Lineker and Richard Osman and aims to draw a broad audience, with Littler expressing hope that the event will help expand interest in darts. “It’s going to do really well and I’m really looking forward to getting started,” he said.

Littler also acknowledged the challenge posed by the unknown quality of the amateur players, who each must deliver a single strong leg to eliminate him. “They only have to have one good leg and I’m done,” he noted. Nonetheless, he is optimistic about his chances and ready to embrace the challenge on what promises to be an engaging and high-stakes evening of darts.
