Liverpool goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili has been fined after admitting to using a handheld mobile phone while driving. The incident occurred on the M6 motorway, where the 25-year-old was found to have been watching a video on his phone behind the wheel.
Mamardashvili, who serves as Liverpool’s second-choice goalkeeper, appeared at Warrington Combined Court where he was convicted of the offense. The court imposed a fine of £440, alongside six penalty points on his driving licence. Additionally, he was ordered to pay £120 in court costs and a victim surcharge of £176.
The conviction highlights ongoing enforcement of mobile phone regulations at the roadside, with authorities maintaining strict penalties for drivers caught using handheld devices. Mamardashvili’s case follows broader efforts to curb distracted driving and enhance road safety across the UK.
