Liverpool are preparing an opening bid for Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola as they seek to reinforce their attacking options ahead of the new season. The 23-year-old France international has been identified as a key target for the Premier League club, which is looking to fill the void left by Mohamed Salah’s departure this summer.

Barcola, who developed through the Lyon academy before joining PSG, remains under contract with the French champions for two more years. However, he has reportedly declined an offer to extend his stay, signaling openness to a transfer. Despite his talent, Barcola’s playing time at PSG has been limited; he started only 21 of the 34 Ligue 1 matches last season and faced increased competition following the club’s pursuit of RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande.

PSG have set a valuation of approximately £145 million for Barcola, a figure that would break the British transfer record. The club justifies this price based on his age, potential, and recent performances, which include 34 goals and 28 assists over the last two seasons, as well as his contributions to France’s run at the recent World Cup, where he scored three goals. Liverpool, however, are reported to be hesitant about meeting this price and hope to negotiate a lower fee. Barcola’s value was estimated to be closer to £75 million during preliminary discussions last summer.

Liverpool’s interest in Barcola has been consistent, with recent talks between the club and the player’s representatives indicating mutual interest. The Reds see Barcola’s skill set as a good match for manager Andoni Iraola’s tactical approach, offering both pace and goal-scoring ability. The club had also pursued Diomande, but their £85 million bid was rejected, and the winger is expected to join Real Madrid.

While Liverpool prepare their offer, Barcola remains a subject of interest for other top European clubs, including Arsenal, Bayern Munich, and Chelsea, the latter having made inquiries earlier in the transfer window. Meanwhile, Liverpool have already bolstered their forward options with the signings of Víctor Muñoz from Osasuna and Jérémy Jacquet from Rennes, but manager Iraola is eager to strengthen further, particularly in attack and defense.
