Five emerging golfers, including Malaysia’s Liyana Durisic, have secured Sponsor’s Invitations to compete in the Maybank Championship 2026 following a closely contested ASEAN Qualifier held at Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club (KLGCC). The two-day event took place at one of the designated Maybank ASEAN Golf Getaway locations and concluded with a three-way tie for first place, signaling a competitive field and highlighting regional talent.

Thai amateurs Sarisa Pojanalai and Achiraya Sriwong, along with professional golfer Pimnipa Panthong, all finished tied at four-under-par 140. Pojanalai delivered the round of the tournament with a standout six-under-par 66, featuring eight birdies. Sriwong, returning as a qualifier, shot a steady 68 to maintain her strong performance record at KLGCC, while Panthong closed with a confident 69.

The fourth qualifying position was claimed by Thai amateur Marisa Tojai, who carded a two-under-par 142. However, the most notable moment came from Durisic, who earned the fifth and final qualifying spot with a one-under-par 143. Her achievement was warmly received by the home crowd and marks her third appearance at the Maybank Championship.

Durisic’s progression carries added significance as she was previously part of the Maybank Champions Academy in 2014, a junior development initiative designed to foster emerging golf talent. Her return to the tournament as a homegrown qualifier reflects Maybank’s ongoing commitment to cultivating local players and enhancing the depth of competitive golf within the region.

The top five finishers will now participate in the Maybank Championship 2026, scheduled to take place from October 29 to November 1 at KLGCC. Tickets for the event are available online.
