Lloyds Bank is notifying millions of customers about an upcoming change from Mastercard to Visa for most of its credit cards, scheduled to take place in 2024. The bank plans to transfer approximately ten million credit cards, with new Visa cards being mailed to customers in the coming months.
Customers will need to activate their new cards and update payment details manually, as existing card information will not be automatically refreshed. Failure to do so could result in payments for car insurance, travel bookings, subscription services, and other recurring charges being declined. Lloyds is urging customers to check and update their personal contact information, including email addresses, home addresses, and mobile phone numbers, on their banking profiles to ensure they receive timely communications.
Following the activation of the new Visa cards, customers will have a six-week window to update payment details across various platforms and services. Despite the card network change, Lloyds has confirmed that credit limits, payment due dates, monthly repayments, and PIN numbers will remain unchanged.
This transition underscores the importance for customers to proactively manage their account information to avoid disruptions. Lloyds has emphasized that the card replacement is part of a broader effort to streamline its credit card offerings.
