A man in Cardiff took matters into his own hands after discovering a large amount of household waste had been illegally dumped outside a block of flats he manages. Dean Gauci, 38, identified seven sacks of rubbish left at the property and launched an investigation to find the responsible party.
Gauci, who oversees Airbnb maintenance through his company Stay Care Operations Ltd, reviewed several hours of CCTV footage to capture the fly-tipper in action. He then examined the bags for any identifying information but found only Amazon boxes with their addresses removed. Undeterred, he consulted with neighbors, one of whom recognized the individual and directed Gauci to the man’s residence.
In a move described as delivering "instant karma," Gauci returned the waste to the doorstep of the person he caught dumping it. After placing the rubbish outside the man’s front door, he rang the bell to confront him directly. Gauci said he wanted the individual to experience the consequences of his actions firsthand.
The incident highlights the frustrations local property managers face with illegal dumping and demonstrates the lengths some will go to hold offenders accountable.
