Manchester United is facing opposition from local residents over plans to establish the club’s first dedicated fanzone at Old Trafford. The proposal, announced last month, involves creating a 1,300-capacity venue called The Paddock behind the Stretford End, intended to open in time for the club’s autumn fixtures.

The club has stated that the initiative responds to fan demand and aims to offer food, beverages, and entertainment to enhance the matchday experience. However, the project requires planning permission from Trafford Council, and nearby residents have expressed significant concerns.

A petition signed by around 50 local residents has been submitted to the council, raising objections related primarily to potential increases in noise pollution and other disruptions the fanzone might generate. Opponents fear the facility could negatively affect the neighborhood’s quality of life, especially during busy matchdays.

This development comes as tensions within the fanbase continue, with supporters already planning a protest march to Old Trafford ahead of the upcoming Manchester derby, reflecting ongoing dissatisfaction with the club’s ownership.
