London has been unsuccessful in its bid to host the 2029 World Athletics Championships, with the event awarded to Nairobi, Kenya. This marks the first time the championships will be held on the African continent. Munich, another contender for the 2029 event, was instead selected to host the 2031 edition. Jack Buckner, chief of UK Athletics, expressed disappointment, stating that the UK believed its bid had strong potential to elevate the sport globally.

In tennis, Jack Draper, the 24-year-old former world No. 4, has announced he will miss the remainder of the 2026 season due to an ongoing arm injury. The injury has sidelined Draper for much of the past year. In a social media statement, Draper acknowledged the personal challenges he has faced during his recovery, citing the need to take time off to fully heal and return strong.

Meanwhile, the PGA Tour has indicated it will not reintegrate golfers who participated in the now-bankrupt LIV Golf series in the near future. Earlier this year, Brooks Koepka was allowed back onto the PGA Tour under a special arrangement, a path rejected by other LIV players including Jon Rahm and Bryson DeChambeau. PGA Tour commissioner Brian Rolapp clarified that no return program similar to Koepka’s deal is currently being considered. Under existing PGA Tour rules, former LIV players must wait at least 12 months after their last LIV event and are expected to qualify through the DP World Tour to regain PGA Tour status.
