A lone sailor was rescued by the U.S. Coast Guard after their sailboat ran aground on Santa Rosa Island off the Southern California coast on Thursday. The Coast Guard received a report of the stranded 25-foot vessel at approximately 12:18 p.m. and dispatched a helicopter crew from its Ventura County air station to the scene.

Upon arrival, responders found the sailboat resting on its side along the shore. The helicopter crew evacuated the sailor to Camarillo Airport, where the individual was evaluated by the Ventura County Fire Department. Officials confirmed there were no injuries.

The Coast Guard has not released information regarding the circumstances that led to the grounding of the sailboat. Following the rescue, a towing company removed the vessel from the beach and transported it to Ventura Harbor for recovery.

Santa Rosa Island, part of Channel Islands National Park, is located off the coast of Southern California and is a known destination for recreational boating and wildlife observation. The Coast Guard continues to monitor maritime activity in the region to ensure safety.
