Lone’er Kavanagh is preparing to make an impression at UFC 329, where he is scheduled to face Brandon Royval on the undercard. The London-based flyweight expressed enthusiasm about appearing on a major fight card alongside high-profile competitors such as Conor McGregor and Paddy Pimblett, both known for their energetic promo styles.
Kavanagh described himself as somewhat reserved when interacting with fans, preferring to let his performance inside the Octagon do the talking. “The more they speak, the better,” he said, referring to McGregor and Pimblett, adding that he is happy to simply listen as they engage the audience.
Reflecting on his rapid rise, Kavanagh said he feels fortunate to be part of such a significant event. “Conor’s one of the main reasons why MMA is so big now. Being able to fight on the same card as him… if you’d have told me five years ago that I’d be fighting on a main card with Conor McGregor, I’d have told you to go do one,” he remarked.
Despite this being only his fifth UFC fight, a win against Royval would bring Kavanagh closer to a potential title shot in the flyweight division. He acknowledged that growing recognition comes with his increased exposure but admitted that he sometimes feels awkward when meeting fans. “I do get recognised a little bit more now. I like it, I’m just a bit of an awkward guy,” he noted.
UFC 329, taking place tomorrow, promises a stacked lineup, and Kavanagh sees this as an important opportunity to solidify his status in the sport’s competitive landscape.
