Sunderland striker Wilson Isidor has committed his future to the club by signing a new contract extending his stay at the Stadium of Light until 2030. The extension ends speculation over his potential departure amid interest from Premier League side West Ham United and Championship club Ipswich Town.
Isidor, a Haiti international, joined Sunderland from Zenit St Petersburg in August 2024. Since his arrival, he has made 83 appearances and scored 19 goals, including six goals in 33 top-flight matches last season. The forward played a crucial role in Sunderland’s promotion campaign from the Championship, netting 12 goals and scoring a decisive goal in the play-off semi-final victory over Coventry City.
Head coach Regis Le Bris had previously confirmed that the 23-year-old forward would remain at the club following the departure of Eliezer Mayenda. Isidor, who recently represented Haiti at the 2026 World Cup, expressed optimism about the season ahead and his development at Sunderland. “I want to score more this year, and that’s why I think the club believes in me,” he said, looking forward to competing in European and domestic cup fixtures as well as Premier League games.
Sunderland’s director of football, Florent Ghisolfi, praised Isidor’s attitude and commitment, highlighting his importance to the team regardless of whether he starts or comes off the bench. “Wilson has been an important part of the journey this club has been on—from fighting for promotion to establishing ourselves back in the Premier League,” Ghisolfi said. He added that Isidor is still young and has room to grow, and the club is pleased to continue working with the forward as part of their long-term project.
Isidor expressed his attachment to Sunderland and the local community, thanking supporters for their warm welcome since his arrival. “I love everything here—the people, the fans, the stadium, the city,” he said. The club also announced new contract extensions for Romaine Mundle and expects goalkeeper Robin Roefs to agree on new terms soon.
Meanwhile, Sunderland’s pursuit of Manchester City winger Jack Grealish appears uncertain. Although Grealish is reportedly open to leaving City before the transfer deadline on Tuesday, his favored destination is a return to Everton, where he spent the previous season on loan. City manager Enzo Maresca indicated that Grealish’s future remains undecided and that the club will assess the situation over the coming days.
Sunderland is set to host Hull City in the third round of the Carabao Cup during the week commencing September 7, continuing a busy start to the 2026-27 campaign.
