A 57-year-old hiker from China encountered difficulties after becoming lost in the mountains of Zhejiang province and seeking assistance from an AI chatbot. The incident took place on August 30 in Ningbo, where the man, identified as Yang, went hiking and took an unplanned route during his descent after reaching the summit.

When Yang realized he was lost, he turned to an AI chatbot on his phone for guidance. The chatbot advised him to follow a stream downhill, but this led him into dense vegetation and over steep, slippery terrain, worsening his situation. Eventually, Yang called for help, and firefighters were dispatched to locate him. He was able to share his live location with the search team, who successfully found him later that day.

Following the rescue, Yang resumed interacting with the AI chatbot, which reportedly admonished him for not using a dedicated navigation app during his hike. The chatbot emphasized that if he had followed an established route using GPS, he likely would not have ended up stranded in a ravine without a proper trail, adding, "Let’s remember this lesson together."

In a separate cultural event reported alongside this story, Cantopop singer Aaron Kwok made a brief verbal slip during a concert in Kuala Lumpur. The 60-year-old artist spotted fans holding placards from Singapore, prompting him to shout "Singapore" before correcting himself to say he meant "Singapore’s neighbour." Kwok explained the moment by saying that seeing so many Singaporean fans made him feel as if he were back in Singapore.
