Lane Beckett Radovan and Nathaniel Hart Clurman’s relationship began in August 2013 when both arrived as freshmen at Culver Academies, a boarding school in Culver, Indiana. Introduced through mutual family friends, the two quickly formed a connection during their first week on campus, bonding over shared experiences and interests.
At the time, Radovan was 14 and Clurman, who goes by Nate, was 15. Though neither was initially seeking a serious relationship, their first encounters—including walks around campus and breakfast dates in town—led to a brief high school romance. They parted amicably in January 2014, recognizing their youth and readiness for long-term commitment.
Despite the breakup, the pair remained close friends. Clurman, known for his hockey skills, went on to play with the Tri-City Storm in Nebraska while pursuing studies at the University of Notre Dame, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration. Radovan, originally from Phoenix, started college in Nashville and later graduated from Vanderbilt University with a degree in human and organizational development. Throughout these years, they maintained regular communication via texts and video calls, often supporting one another through the challenges of balancing education, athletics, and new environments.
Their relationship evolved gradually, with occasional flirtations during summers and periods of rekindled romance. Following Radovan’s 2021 graduation, they solidified their commitment. Clurman had signed with the Colorado Avalanche in the National Hockey League and shifted to full-time professional hockey. Meanwhile, Radovan began her career in people consulting at Ernst & Young, initially in Chicago.
The couple navigated multiple relocations tied to Clurman’s hockey career, including moves to Salt Lake City, Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, and ultimately returning to Colorado. In late 2023, Radovan transferred within Ernst & Young to Denver, where they settled first in an apartment before moving into a home in Boulder.
In the fall of 2024, they are set to move to Angelholm, Sweden, where Clurman will play for Rogle BK in the Swedish Hockey League. The pair describe their lifestyle as that of modern nomads, embracing the adventure that comes with frequent moves and international living.
In February 2025, during a trip to Los Cabos, Mexico, Clurman proposed to Radovan on a beach walk, overcoming recent physical challenges including a knee ligament injury that required extensive rehabilitation.
The couple married on June 26, 2025, in Eagle, Colorado, in an intimate ceremony attended by their parents. Taking advantage of Colorado’s recognition of self-solemnization, Radovan and Clurman officiated their own marriage outside the Eagle County Clerk and Recorder’s Office. The celebration concluded with a private brunch in Vail at Tavernetta Vail, a local Italian restaurant favored by the couple.
