Cacherel “Cach” Mercer, the winner of the 2025 ITV2 dating show Love Island, has been confirmed as a contestant on the upcoming series of Strictly Come Dancing. Mercer, 25, becomes the fifth celebrity announced for the 2026 season of the BBC ballroom competition, joining previously revealed participants Lacey Turner, Dani Dyer, Delta Goodrem, and Chris Appleton.

Mercer expressed enthusiasm about joining the show, noting that he grew up watching Strictly Come Dancing with his family and has a strong passion for dance. He highlighted his excitement to learn ballroom styles, mentioning specifically the foxtrot, which he has not performed before.

Mercer rose to prominence after winning Love Island alongside Toni Laites, with the pair sharing the £50,000 prize. The couple has since separated. Outside of reality TV, Mercer works as a model and DJ, and he is also involved in charitable activities as an ambassador for a young people’s mental health organization.

The inclusion of Mercer adds to the diverse lineup for Strictly Come Dancing 2026, which continues to feature a mix of actors, musicians, and other public figures as contestants. The series remains a major fixture in the UK television calendar, drawing audiences with its blend of competitive dance and celebrity appeal.
